The Clermont County Auditor’s Office is responsible for issuing Retail Cigarette Dealer’s Licenses. Anyone who sells or transports cigarettes within Clermont County must obtain a yearly Cigarette Dealer’s License in conjunction with a Vendor’s License.
Wholesale Cigarette Dealer’s Licenses are only available from the Ohio Department of Taxation. Additional information can be found on the Ohio Department of Taxation’s website.
Licenses are renewed annually. The retail dealer needs to fill out the registration form and pay the annual fee of $125. Licenses are good for a one-year period that runs from the 4th Monday in May to the 4th Monday of May the next year.
The current licensing period is May 22, 2023 to May 27, 2024.
Once issued, the license number and the information about the business establishment are permanently filed in the county’s records. New retail licenses bought after the 3rd Monday in June are subject to proration and can only be purchased at the office of the Clermont County Auditor.
